3 letters

Image
The assignment consisted of 3 letters differing from their classification or font. These letters establish the use of negative and positive space through their actions upon the box.The letters are an uppercase V, a lowercase d and b.However their appearance are vastly influenced from their classification. For instance the V is drawn using the Sans Serif Helvetica, originated in 1957.When viewing from ones blind eye, it seems austere as no exaggeration is expressed throughout the font. Some characteristics include the use of no contrast and a lack of serif. Therefore in order to develop a strong relationship between the letter V and the box I planted it right in the middle, developing the letter to be a bold statement instead of a vague one.Afterwards I established the letter d with the exact opposite from V's classification.Known as Old style Garamond, it consist of a low contrast, being heavily bracketed, having a course serif, and including a humanistic pr...

Similarity

Image
Reflection  When discussing my experience regarding the assignment, It was far more difficult than I expected. The establishment of two artworks that are corresponding is a confusing task. This is due to the changes that alter the shape, color, size, or texture. My consistent shape was the triangle which was altered by the size plus the positive and negative value. In addition the amount of reflections in order to combine them to create a letter such as a L were overwhelming.Since my artwork has a continuous display of branches from the side, I decided to combine them with that design. In conclusion this assignment helped me realize the minor differences in everyday illustrations while noticing their similarity.

Grid & Structure

Image
The triangular grid consist of the  tiling of the plane regularly with triangles . This establishes a complex figure throughout the artwork. I created this grid with the combination of lines, layered vertically, horizontal or diagonal. This however wasn't as easy for it required precision when drawing the lines. The tools such as the ruler did help but did not eliminate the straightening factor of the line. When discussing about the unit forms, it is a abstract form which contains numerous curves and lines for added detail. This form was displayed consistently in order top demonstrate the benefit from using a grid, in this case the triangular grid.

Repetition of texture

Image
Reflection Texture  the feel, appearance, or consistency of a surface or substance.Despite the ease to ear this term is more difficult than you think.Ones use of materials plays a major role in the term texture when illustrating in plain blank paper. For instance the sharpie creates a harsh and permanent appearance while the pencil develops a soothing light flow to the drawing. The constant difference of point and lines create a illusion, therefore making it seem as the paper actually has a texture.Even though the drawing was challenging it encouraged me to see the real life items that include texture in order to have a reference. In conclusion the repetition of texture is seen around the world no matter it’s different forms of showing it.

Interrelationship of Forms by Adriel Diaz

Image
Penetration  Intersection  Touching Coinciding  Detachment  Overlapping  Union Subtraction    Reflection The interrelationship of forms had a challenging yet fun aspect when illustrating. The form penetration was difficult as you have to include forms that have the same positive or negative form while developing a new form in between them. When I did conquer this challenge it entertained me how in the real world this form is used. The fun aspect of this assignment was the other forms as those are seen almost daily in common items. For instance union can be described as birds joining together and being a flock and overlapping being a phone on a paper or table.
